Efforts by checkoff programs to promote June Dairy Month will highlight the farmers behind dairy foods.

Dairy farmers and their commitment to the environment and animal care will take center stage of checkoff-led social media efforts for World Milk Day (June 1) and the monthlong National Dairy Month celebration.

We’ll also highlight the unexpected voices of the next generation of dairy with our I Am a Dairy Farmer video, which helps challenge the farmer stereotype by showing a side of millennial and Gen Z dairy farmers that many people may have never seen.

And, no, we won’t forget the recipes!

June is always a special time for the dairy industry, and checkoff teams nationally and locally will ramp up their social media presence with a lot of content. The work actually gets underway as Dairy Management Inc. will join Global Dairy Platform and the dairy community May 29 to 31 for the Enjoy Dairy Rally.

Soon after, the checkoff will begin highlighting content that shows how dairy farmers are excellent stewards of their environment, including promotion of these stories:

How Dairy Farmers Are Reducing Methane And Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Can dairy be sustainable?

How Cows (And Worms) Can Make Dairy A More Sustainable Solution

Why The World Is A Better Place With Dairy Cows

Will Removing Dairy Cows Help Stop Climate Change?

Cooperative Effort Diverts Food Waste

Dairy’s Impact Instagraphics

Knowing consumers also are interested in how farmers care for their animals, these stories – “Making Cows Comfier” and “How dairy farmers care for calves” – are in the mix.

We’ll also promote “Reset Yourself with Dairy” assets that show how dairy delivers benefits consumers – particularly those in the younger segments – are seeking related to immunity, calmness, energy, and digestive health. Some new digital spots and a handful of social media assets will bring humor – and new jingles – to Gen Z audiences to keep reminding them how much they love to reach for dairy!

Finally, no June is complete without delicious dairy-centric recipes, including some that are timely for the start of summer, such as Vegetarian Taco Salad, Chilled Cucumber Soup, Grilled Romaine Salad, Salad on a stick, and Grilled Jicama Salad.

Don’t let June slip by without sharing this content and much more with your social media followers. Remind them that dairy is delicious and it comes from farm families who truly care for the planet and their animals.
